The School was founded by Late Sir Fazle Hasan Abed in 2004 in Dhaka, Bangladesh to address the unmet public health challenges particular to Asia, Africa and South America. The School is dedicated to contributing to public health by creating public health leaders and innovative solutions through cutting-edge and experiential Education, Training, and Research to inform policies and programmes.

Midwifery Education Programme (MEP)

BRAC University introduced the Diploma in Midwifery side by side with the Government in 2012. This innovative educational initiative, which is co-funded by the UK government and BRAC, is the first of its kind in the private sector of Bangladesh.

Multi-disciplinary teams at the School engage in research on a range of topics, including, but not limited to, urban and rural health, socioeconomic development, poverty, infectious and non-communicable diseases, nutrition, gender equity and rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights, digital health, human rights, health systems and workforce, health equity, and healthcare financing.
